Refugee Week 2026 runs from Monday 15th June to Sunday 21 June, and this year’s theme is “Courage.” On 21st June, churches will mark Sanctuary Sunday at the end of Refugee Week. This is an opportunity to celebrate the courage of people forced to flee their homes in search of safety, and of those who stand beside them, especially at a time when refugees, migrants, and people seeking asylum, may face hostility, violence, and hatred. Intercultural mission calls us beyond celebrating diversity to defending human dignity. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to welcome the stranger, challenge dehumanising language, and build communities of belonging. Anglican Network for Intercultural Churches invites churches and Christian leaders to pray, listen, speak out, and act in solidarity. May our hospitality become justice, our compassion become courage, and our churches become places where strangers are welcomed as neighbours, friends, and fellow members of God’s household.
With every blessing,
Rt. Rev’d Tim Wambunya Bishop of Wolverhampton,
Founder Chair of Anglican Network for Intercultural Churches
