The Vicar's Letter - 09/11/2025

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

November contains many significant foci, including acts of remembrance. However, it also contains the annual Inter-Faith Week (Sunday 9th – Sunday 16th November) which could not come at a more important time in terms of our national and global need for understanding of, and care for, our neighbour, whatever their religious background. Across our diocese we are blessed by many local examples of relationship building between faith leaders and faith groups, most particularly, but not exclusively, with the Jewish and Muslim communities. In a time when both national and global tensions are high and the suspicion of those who are ‘not like us’ is growing, or who we do not understand, we are in a good position to model what caring for one’s neighbour is about. So, thank you to all who have already fostered supportive relationships with other faith groups in the communities we serve. Maybe this year’s inter-faith week might be an opportunity for each of us to reach out in a new way to those we live among. We may feel powerless to influence or change the national or international dialogue, but we can, following the example of Christ, make a difference one person at a time as we seek to love and serve our neighbours. With every blessing for your ministry through this month,

Rev. Jairo Nyaongo
