The Vicar's Letter - 21/12/2025

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The fourth Sunday in Advent brings us to the understanding of the value of relationships. It gives us the reason to reconsider how our relationships shape who we are, and who we might become. We might take relationships lightly until we realise they are the foundation to our identity, and the emotional support that is tied to them. Today’s gospel (Matthew 1:18-25) points us to the bond we have with God and with one another. Through Mary and Joseph, God comes to abide with us, taking our nature and dwell among us, as one of us through Jesus Christ. He comes to restore our relationship and the bond we have with him. The Scripture tells us that the relationship between Mary and Joseph was restored because Joseph overcame his fear and responded to the angel who appeared to him in a dream. Before the angelic message, Joseph was struggling with the decision of what to do with Mary. So, on this Advent Sunday, let us respond with joy to the angelic message about the birth of Christ, and through it, receive healing and restoration this Christmas.

I wish you a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Rev Jairo Nyaongo
