The Vicars Letter - 28/05/2023

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am writing to remind us that we have a 10:00am combined Sung Eucharist Service at St. Augustine’s Church to celebrate St. Augustine of Canterbury Festival. This is an opportunity for the 9:15 and 11:00 congregations to come together for worship and fellowship. Coming together is particularly important this Sunday because it is the day of the Pentecost. The Scripture says “When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting” (Acts 2:1-2).

The APCM was held on 21st May: A lot had gone on to prepare for this year’s meeting. I would therefore like to thank you all for making the meeting possible and for the discussions during the meeting which contributed to a vision for the future mission. The following proposal was passed “That time of Sung Eucharist on Sundays be changed from 9:15am to 10:00am as from 3rd September 2023. When the Eucharist is followed by an APCM, a Said Eucharist should be held which would begin and end with a hymn.” This proposal meant that there will be no 11am Service at St. Augustine’s and the 11:00am Service at Holy Trinity will be moved to 11:30am. The Ministry Team will explore all options to ensure worship in different forms is accessible to all. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to empower us in our consideration of these major changes in times and patterns of worship. May He guide us to see what we cannot see, and hear what we cannot hear.

Rev’d Jairo Nyaongo
